Project Management ( Pm ) - 2739 Words

So, let s start with a general definition of project management. Very simply, project management (PM) is just another way to get things done! However, as businesses and technologies have matured, so has the science of PM, in lock-step with the nature and scope of business today - global, distributed, matrixed and virtual. It may be easy to get a single task done between a supervisor and their employee when they both sit in the same building, across the hall from each other. The supervisor asks, the employee delivers. However, the nature of work has changed. It has become global - project team members may be comprised of people on multiple continents and time zones. Work has become distributed - a single, complex task can be†¦show more content†¦How Project Manager does manages to do all that, you might ask. PM has developed into a quantifiable, defined, and measured science utilizing PM-specific principles and processes that have become accepted protocol for gettin g things done. In many cases, for some companies, the project is now the smallest unit of work - meaning that the complexity of what needs to be accomplished is such that PM is the most efficient method by which work can be done. Individuals are no longer necessarily responsible for tasks , but for a complete deliverable (which may be a result of multiple tasks, or a series of tasks which are executed in a particular and specific order). The work of project teams cross functional areas, but they are not managed by functional managers. The project deliverables often require decisions by functional managers, but the benefits may not necessarily accrue directly to the functional manager making the decision. Sound complicated? Yes...and no. Remember: project management is getting things done. Thus PM is people working together to accomplish a specific achievement with a defined set of resources, within a specific timeline. It is this relationship between SCOPE (what will be accomplished), TIME (when the accomplishment must be completed by), and RESOURCES or COST (headcount, budget, facilities, technology, administration, etc) that drives PM. This is often called the PROJECT MANAGEMENT TRIANGLE (or THE TRIPLE CONSTRAINT) --

Research Design Qualitative Data Analysis

Question: Discuss about the Research Design Qualitative Data Analysis. Answer: Background of the study Research being one of the most significant elements in the field of nursing and healthcare, demands critical appraisal of research articles to discover significant findings and improve the quality of health care provided. The article that is being appraised here is titled as Compromised Communication: a qualitative study exploring Afghan families and health professionals experience of interpreting support in Australian maternity care (Yelland et al., 2016). It is evident from the title that the study is focused on the communication between Afghan families and health professionals and quality of healthcare provided in maternity cares. It deals with language support low English proficiency refugee groups like Afghan men and women in Australia and how that affects the communication with health professionals. Communication between Communication between health professionals and patients is a determining factor on how efficiently care is being provided. Communication is most challenging when the native language of the patients differs from that of health professionals. As the study deals with language support to Afghan refugee and experience of health professionals in communicating with the target group, it has significant implications in the field of health science. Overview of research design The aim of the study is To describe the experience of Afghan men and women regarding language support during pregnancy, check-ups, labour and birth. To obtain what the health professionals experience regarding communication with low English proficiency patients including Afghan refugees. And to consider suggestions regarding health services and policies The study design that was used was a qualitative study. The study design is appropriate because very few studies have been conducted previously that focused on communication discrepancies between the concerned study groups. Sampling The study participants included 16 Afghan women, 14 Afghan men, 5 medical practitioners and 19 community based health professionals who provided maternal or early postnatal care. The inclusion criteria were women and men of age 18 years or more who were born in Afghanistan and had a baby who was 4-12 months old. For health professionals the inclusion criteria were having recent experience of providing maternity and early postnatal care or managing services that provided maternity and early postnatal care for Afghan families. Inclusion and Exclusion criteria are important parameters in any research as it helps identify the most suitable candidate for the particular research. It helps the researcher to screen potential participants to get optimized data relevant for the study (McDonagh, Peterson, Raina, Chang, Shekelle, 2017). The criteria were important for conducting the study to concentrate upon a certain study group so that the findings can have significant implications on the target group. Community researchers worked with community advisor group, key community leaders and community groups of the project to identify the eligible participants in the Afghan population. The stakeholder advisory group identified contacts in their organisations and promoted the research to encourage participation among the health professionals. Samplings of health professionals were done according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria after they contacted the research team. A research design plans and structures the strategies employed in a research. It helps the researcher to narrow down on the key points that needs to be focused upon (Creswell, 2013). It is basically the framework of the overall research to be conducted. The research design was appropriate as because the research problem was to describe the communicating problems faced by Afghan men and women and health professionals during perinatal stages due to language discrepancies. So the sampling and inclusion criteria were appropriate for the study. The sample size was determined based on the study region and the particular community of refugees. It was conducted in one region of Melbourne and included Afghan refugees only. The sample size is one of the significant limitations of the study. Due to such constraints the study finding cannot be extrapolated to other regions and communities. Data collection Data was collected by conducting interviews in languages preferred by the participants. In qualitative research data are collected by direct interaction in a one to one method or in a group setting. This can be done by conducting interviews, focus groups, action research and observations (Palinkas, et al., 2015). The data collection method in this study was appropriate for the study as it was a qualitative study and the study problem was to describe the personal experiences of the target groups. Rigor is a term very commonly used in scientific researches, both quantitative and qualitative. It is more often associated with qualitative studies as does not have an experimental basis to it. It depends on factors such as Truth value or credibility, applicability, consistency and neutrality of a study. Data analysis/results The interviews were recorded digitally, those conducted in community languages were transcribes and cross-checked by the research team. All the transcripts were coded manually and entered into NVivo10 software for qualitative analysis. A coding manual was developed based on transcripts from the first two men and first two women. The codes were placed into logical categories and theme of language services and communication was reported in the study. Content analysis is an efficient method of qualitative data analysis. It includes categorisation of verbal data collected from interviews to achieve a summary and classification of the same (Miles, Huberman Saldana, 2013). The method for data analysis was efficient as all the essential steps to analyse a qualitative data efficiently were followed. Further, NVivo10 is helps organize data from interviews in a structured and organised manner ("What is NVivo? | QSR International", 2017). Organising a qualitative data is significant to achieve new insights from the study. The study findings show that Afghan women rely mostly on their husband regarding interpretation. There was very scarce engagement of accredited interpreters during pregnancy and virtually none during labour and birth. The reliance on Afghan men to interpret is against the language policies of Victoria. The engagement of family members for interpretation is a cause of concern as it is often biased and non-uniform conveyance of information. Further, health professionals may refrain from asking about various sensitive issues regarding the personal lives of the patients like family violence and inhibit the patient to provide frank responses. It was also found that health professionals feel that the appointment systems are not fully flexible to facilitate interpreter engagement. Moreover, the study shows that lack of interpreter engagement is not solely due to resource strains but they were not actively engaged if when available to the client and the provider at zero costs. Although the study findings were uniform with findings from other regions and communities it is not scientific to extrapolate it to other regions due to limitations in sampling of the target groups and the sample size itself. Evidence utilization It has been stated in the research paper itself that other studies have found that immigrant women face communication difficulties with health professionals who provide maternity care. The findings of the present study are consistent with previous studies. Thus these findings can be applied in clinical practice at least in regions were the study has been conducted and to the concerned community. References Creswell, J. W. The Godly Family Of Colonial Massachusetts Essays

The Godly Family Of Colonial Massachusetts The Godly Family of Colonial Massachusetts Puritans didnt really think of their family as a private household, but as an essential part of society. Many communities tied families to each other by birth or marriage. The communities of the seventeenth-century, being small, had many marriages and remarriages that created a kinship, which was a difficult to understand. In-laws and distant cousins were known as brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers, and cousins. This relationship was very important in the social, economic life of the community, because it helped to develop trading networks and investments. Partnerships within families were important, because some members had their own ships. Merchant and artisan families kept their craft skills within the family, by teaching their sons and/or nephews the trade. For economical purposes, it was very important that everything was within family. The father was the authority figure in the family. He represented his family and supported the family. His wife, servants, and children were to submit to his authority (if the children cursed or hit their father, they were penalized with death). Where the sons would live when they got married was up to their father (usually around the parental homestead). The Puritan doctrine states that the wife is not equal to her husband. She was not allowed to vote, had to submit to her husbands commands, and had to show him an attitude of reverence (fear him out of love). The Puritans did provide the wife with some safeguards in the doctrine; such as being able to divorce her husband if hes impotent, cruel, has abandoned and failed to provide for the family. Though the father seems to be the dominant one, his wife does have the power to leave him is she chooses to (with a good reason). History Essays

When Should I Take the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test

When Should I Take the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Are you planning to take the Math II SAT Subject Test for your college applications? As you know, the Math 2 subject test covers more advanced math concepts than the Math I. Because of this, you want to make sure you're taking it at the right time to achieve a high score. This article will help you figure out exactly when is the best time for you take this test. First, let's quickly review what's on the Math 2 SAT Subject Test. What's On the Math Level II Subject Test? Like the Math I Subject Test, the Math II test covers algebra and geometry. Additionally, it tests trigonometry and elementary functions, which describe a relationship between an input and output. A simple function question may ask you to solve for x, while othersmay ask you to definea function's range or domain or to graph it. I'll show some example problems of function questions that appear on the Math II test below. First, here'sthe breakdown of what percentage of the test covers each content area. As you can see, algebra and geometry make up a significantly larger portion of the questions than number / operations and data analysis / probability. Math Concept Approximate Percentage On Test Number and operations 10-14% Algebra and functions 48-52% Geometry and measurement (coordinate, three-dimensional, and trigonometry) 28-32% Data analysis, statistics, and probability 8-12% Some of these concepts appear on the math section of the general SAT, while others, like trigonometry, elementary functions, and graphing, are more advanced and specific to the SAT Math 2Subject Test. The following areexamples of function and graphing questions you might see on the Math II Subject Test. The SAT Math Level 2test contains questions that ask you to definethe range or domain of a function. Function questions may also present you with a graph or, like in the question below, ask you to draw or visualize your own graph and manipulate it to reflect changes in a function. The answers to these questions are D, D, and B, respectively. Now that we've reviewed what's on the Math Level 2test, when's the best time for you to take it? When Should You Take the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test? What Year Should You Take the Test? College Board recommends that you should take more than three years of college prep math before you take the Math II Subject Test. These years should include two classes inalgebra and one classin geometry, at least. A class in trigonometry and/or precalculus is very helpful, too. So if you takealgebra in eighth grade, geometry in 9th, algebra again in 10th, and trigonometry/precalculus in 11th, then you would probably be in the best position to take the Math II Subject Test at the end of 11th grade. If you are taking trigonometry/precalculus as a sophomore, then you may be in a good position to take the Subject Test at the end of sophomore year. Usually you want to take Math II, and any other Subject Test, at the end of your school year when the course content is freshest in your mind. That being said, which Subject Test dates coincide with the end of the academic year? What Test Date Should You Choose? The Math Level 2 test is offered at various dates throughout the year. June may be the best time to take it, with May as a close runner up. Math II is offered on May 5 and June 2. Its tentative spring dates for 2020 are May 2 and June 6. Sign up by about a monthin advance, if not sooner, just like the SAT. If you're taking the general SAT in the same year as the Subject Test, which one should you schedule first? What About All Your Other Tests, like the SAT/ACT and APs? A smart way to schedule your Subject Test is to sign up for it after you take the general SAT. You'll likely study a lot for the math section of the general SAT, and this studying could overlap with your Subject Test prep. If you're taking both testsin the same year, you could take the general SAT in March (or May), and the Subject Test in May or June. Remember, you can't take the Subject Test on the same day as the general SAT, but you can take up to three Subject Tests on one date. While SAT prep can be helpful for the Math II test, aligning these tests should be a secondary concern. The most important consideration is subject mastery. So if you've taken trigonometry and precalculus as a sophomore, then you'll probably be best served taking the Subject Test at the end of your sophomore year (which may be a year earlier than you're taking the general SAT). This could also be a good way to spread out your tests and have less on your plate in the spring of junior year. While the Subject Test may or may not coincide with your studying for the SAT, it may overlap with a class final or even AP test. This could further help you know the math concepts inside and out, so you can achieve a strong Subject Test score for your college applications. To Sum Up... Reconstruction Writing Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Reconstruction Writing - Assignment Example Andrew Johnson who was the vice president became the president of the United States after the assassination of the president Abraham Lincoln. Johnson was a non slave holding individual and he remained loyal to the north and carried a distinct grudge towards the wealthy Southern Planter Class (Zuczek et al, 10). President Johnson was a white supremacist who clashed with the republicans over the reconstruction the liberation and union of the slaves African American. However, Johnson was determined to carry out the reconstruction policies of Lincoln’s (American Experience). Nevertheless, his policies were different from Lincoln’s and the congressmen’s. Johnson favored reconstruction policy, opposed African American equality and supported states rights unlike the leader of the congress in the radical republican who employed harsh punishment of the southern state but also worked towards the African American getting an equal treatment. In contrast to the passive approa ch of President Johnson, the radical republicans had a much tougher approach towards the African American. The republican were idealistic who were mostly driven by an almost religious fervor. The republican congress did not accept the commonly assumed notion that African Americans were inferior and therefore, they insisted on full social, civil and political rights for the former slaves. Furthermore, they were true reformers with very different ideas about reconstruction as compared to President Johnson. In the summer of 1965, the confederates’ state that had remained met Johnson’s reconstruction ideas that none of the constitutions allowed voting rights to African American. Congress refused to seat the representatives of the south to congress and the radicals in the congress were voting for reconstruction to punish the south harshly unlike the plan of Johnson ( Egerton, et al, 359). Also the presidential reconstruction of the southern government limited the African Am erican rights by passing a black code and prohibiting blacks from testifying in court, borrowing money to buy land or renting land. These black codes combined with the reconstruction plan of Johnson widen the wage between the Republicans in congress and Johnson. This was because unlike the reconstruction plan of Johnson the republican’s reconstruction campaigned for equal rights to the African American. The plan that was better according to me is the reconstruction plan of the republican in congress. This is because of many things in their plan. First of all, by waving the bloody shirt of 1866 congressional elections of republican campaign on hatred towards the southerners over the civil war hardships gained the republicans more than 2/3 majority seats in both houses of congress hence getting the power needed to override a presidential vote. Also the republican in congress reconstruction were more harsh on the southern states and more supportive and protective of African Amer ican rights. Secondly, the republican had two types of Republicans which made it better than the presidential reconstruction ( Egerton, et al, 360). The first was the Moderates which were mainly concerned with the economic gains for the white middle class and the north while the second type the Radicals also know as progressive championed for equal righ

Religious Feminism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Religious Feminism - Essay Example The plight of women is generally evident in all spheres of life, both religious and secular. Even in religion, areas of authority are always of a reserve of men who dominate the creation of norms that determine religious traditions. When baby boys are born, it is considered a blessing than when baby girls are born. Most religious images are male which are considered a symbol of holiness while those of females considered idolatry. In this regard, patriarchy and sexism are aspects that present themselves in all spheres of life especially on high grounds religion where it should be least expected. Under religious representations, there are numerous proposals put forward by the feminist groups about language and image representations of God. Among them is the traditional representation of God as of male gender. When people refer to God, the metaphors used in describing the deity in this respect should be changed to show that God transcends human sexes and that the deity should be taken to represent all sexes on equal grounds. In this case the use of the term â€Å"God the Father† is not acceptable according to the feminists. In this regard, other propositions have been put forward to show God as a mother, sister, and friend. This can be seen as the second part in which images of God are supposed to be changed to be female so as to end the general notion that the use of female images symbolize idolatry. The proposition holds that since the deity makes of all of us including male and female, therefore its representation should include images from both sides. Besides, imag es of God as mother would not in any way stereotype God’s feminine traits. Another proposition is that God should be seen as relational. In this context, God should be seen as a central part of human life who is also shares in the experiences of human beings. By this, the deity is also part of women’s
